Intro: Waking Up in the Snow

Your account’s first hero begins beside the wounded Josh. Here you learn conversation, searching, crafting, treatment, and combat. Before leaving the starting area, configure your character and equip the armor you received.

Talk to Josh

Speak to the wounded man: the exit is closed before your first conversation. He explains where to look for supplies and where to head after the shelter. Check the PDA for starting quests and the current objective.

Searching and First dressing

On the ordinary route, find rags and alcohol in the upper building, craft a sterile bandage, and use it on Josh. The quest checks that you crafted the bandage and treated the wounded man himself. Using it on yourself or using an ordinary starting bandage does not replace this step.

If the game blocks your exit after you gather loot and reminds you about the dressing, check the current objective: materials → crafting → use on Josh. See Crafting Basics and Medicine and Healing for the actions.

Rats and the predator

The ordinary route includes a rat fight followed by a dog’s attack. A rat grants 8 experience; the dog grants 25. Josh may die, but his death is not mandatory: if you kill the dog while he is alive, the intro can finish with the helper surviving.

If Josh dies, you can search his body after defeating the dog. Completing the quest leaves the body in place; take what you need before leaving the starting location.

Do not confuse the ordinary chain with the only way out: leaving early has separate conditions.

Leaving early

After talking to Josh, you can leave before taking the loot. The game warns that you are leaving unprepared, but does not require you to finish every fight first. Your starting character points still have to be allocated.

Once you have taken the loot, that early route no longer applies: finish the active dressing quest and remaining stages. The game explains why an exit is refused. Leaving early is not the same as completing all training and receiving all its rewards.

The exit and additional heroes

After completing the ordinary chain, collect what you need and head to the global-map exit. Starting attributes lock outside the starting area; prepare your build beforehand.

Additional heroes on the account get a shortened intro without repeating the briefing, rats, or dog; they receive no training experience for those events. See Account Characters for creating another hero.

Where to go next

Read First Steps, World Map, and Cold and Frostbite. Before a long trip, check armor, stamina, treatment, and your way back.
