We present for your attention a new video — a demonstration of the NPC behavior mechanic, as well as the start of work on lighting on maps.
The clip shows the operation of the following mechanics:
— Smooth change of lighting on the map depending on the change in time of day. The setting of the game is a world during nuclear winter, whose sky is overcast with clouds even 30 years after the apocalypse. That is why there is no sunny weather on the surface.
— A dynamic light source attached to the character, matching the direction of movement. Beyond the visuals, this element is important for future stealth mechanics.
— A flickering light source.
— Random and set patrol routes.
— NPC pop-up phrases. In the current iteration these are merely random pop-up lines. However, the system has messages built in for various NPC behavior modes with a display of state status.
— Random NPC actions in an idle state.
The video is accompanied by a musical composition played during snowy encounters on the global map.
Enjoy!
At the moment, many of the presented mechanics are in their initial iterations, but before moving further, we will need to test them in the upcoming updates of the alpha version.
To take part in testing the alpha version of the game Last Frontier, you need to send an application to the email address alpha@lastfrontier.ru, indicating the following data:
1) Name or nickname.
2) Age.
3) Amount of free time per day / Number of free days per week.
4) Optionally, you may indicate whether you have experience participating in the testing of any games. However, this point is no longer the main criterion for selecting forms.
And that’s where the news ends. Thank you for being with us, dear community!
