We’re glad to report that we have begun the active implementation of the foundation of the mechanics for surviving in hostile environmental conditions.
It’s extremely important to us that the game’s planned mechanics emphasize the deadly Cold of nuclear winter and the sense of danger, for an unprepared survivor, of finding themselves on the contaminated surface, where critically low temperatures reign.
In the upcoming updates of the alpha version, we will include the mechanic of surviving in the Cold. Low temperatures are not the only thing that makes the air of the frozen wastelands dangerous, but for a start we decided to focus on one thing.
In the first iteration of survival, in addition to the system displaying the overall temperature in a location, players will have to keep track of how badly their character has frozen, as well as combat the multi-level negative consequences of hypothermia.
Gear, in addition to its usual protective properties against various types of damage, has acquired a number of parameters meant to protect against the Cold as well.
Besides this, sources of heat and frost are in the works, affecting the character’s state depending on the distance to them.
Wait for more details in the upcoming news updates, and in the meantime, dear community, allow us to present to you one more work-in-progress screenshot.
In the image you can notice the interface changes for the low-temperature mechanic at a higher resolution, as well as an early version of a mini-location. The content is largely temporary, certain work still lies ahead, but we hope you’ll like this kind of material from the development fields as well.
That’s all for now. Join our game’s Discord server — we already have more than 800 members.
Until next time, survivors!
