Update 0.3.251

22 May 2026

The server has been updated to version 0.3.251.

Changelog:

– Partial visibility through walls: enemies moving behind an obstacle show up as a translucent silhouette; when they stand still, it vanishes.
– New “In Someone Else’s Skin” mode: join anonymously and play as a hostile NPC in the players’ live world (no saves, no leaving the map, no trading/crafting; a beast’s speech becomes its sounds).
– Map checkpoints: entrances open automatically as you explore; a notification fires when a new one opens.
– Map previews on the global map: a fullscreen view with a snapshot of the location and icons of the opened entrances; click = travel to the chosen entrance.
– Full faction rework: 7 canonical factions (Traders, Battalion, Headhunters, Radio Rats, ED-17, New Gambell, Savoonga), faction emblems on the global map, a unified reputation with the familiar 0/50/100 thresholds.
– 14 weather presets (snow/blizzard/storm/whiteout, fog, frost, hoarfrost, hail, steam) with smooth transitions and precipitation tied to the world; weather is disabled under a roof.
– Melee auto-attack: after a manual attack the client keeps striking the target on its own; key movement is locked until you cancel.
– NPCs spread across neighboring hexes when moving to the same point.
– UDP networking by default for the native client (TCP as fallback): lower latency, better on a poor connection.
– The client updates itself: the updater now updates the client engine too, not just resources — no more reinstalling the client on patches.
– Added “monitor power-on” effects for the interface, with noise and glitches.
– Disembarking a vehicle places the driver and passengers on different sides.
– Interaction distance with large NPCs/vehicles is now predictable.
– Spectator mode for moderators in the admin panel — move to any active map as an incorporeal observer.
